Long-Range Facilities Master Planning

2023-2024 Long-Range Facilities Master Planning

Navarro Long-Range Facilities Master Planning

The Navarro ISD Long-Range Facilities Master Planning Committee is made up of faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members who come together to discuss and make informed decisions to manage growth and district needs. After extensive research, discussions, and considerations the committee will present recommendations for future facilities and priority projects for the Navarro Facilities Master Plan to the Navarro Board of Trustees.  To form the Long Range-Master Planning Committee, Navarro ISD invited all members of both the Collaborative Vision Committee and all known members of the 2021 Bond Committee, to join.  We also posted an opportunity for the community to sign up on the main district website from October 11-19, and posted information on how to get involved in past editions of the District Updates and Board Notes newsletter.

Committee Activities

Committee Members participated in a wide variety of activities that helped us identify guiding principles, look at priorities, identify areas of discussion that will all ultimately be used to create the final recommendation to the Navarro Board of Trustees.

  • During our first meeting, committee members had time to answer a series of twelve questions to help us gather valuable insight to how the different constituent types felt about the district. Below are the questions with the answers committee members gave on post-its during the activity.

What should we keep in mind during the planning of a Long-Range Facilities Master Plan? What is your ideal solution for growth regarding facilities? What are the current challenges with our facilities? What are the opportunities with our facilities? How are our traditions connected to our current facilities? What does future-ready learning look like for our students? How can our facilities support adaptable critical thinks of tomorrow? How might our facilities support teacher experience and retention? How can we ensure the safety and security of our staff and students? How would you define success for a Long-Range Facilities Master Plan?

  • Committee Members spent time looking at aerial maps of the current district space and facilities and were asked to identify areas of concern and areas that are good within the district. This activity helped drive future conversations of what spaces need minor maintenance and upkeep all the way to areas that need renovations or replacement.
