Geronimo, TX – The Navarro FFA Shotgun Shooting Sports team, better known as the Claybusters, secured first place at the highly competitive Friends of Flint Scholarship Shoot. The clay shoot and BBQ cook-off event, held August 16-17 at Moyesway Shooting Sports range, hosted approximately 100 competitors and attracted top youth and adult shooters from across the region.

The team, comprised of Daniel “DJ” Rhinehart (9th), Clayton Wilkins (11th), Waylon Gloor (9th) and Greyson Karlik (9th) and Brayden Munk (5th), showcased their precision and accuracy throughout the competition to ultimately claim the top spot. The event featured a three part competition for a total of 200 clays, as well as a black light night shoot. Their victory not only solidifies their status as a dominant force in the sport, but also highlights the dedication and hard work of both the athletes and their coaches. 

"We are incredibly proud of the Claybusters’ outstanding achievement," said Kristie Weller Agriculture Science Teacher/FFA Advisor at Navarro ISD. "Competitive shooting requires discipline and focus, and offers students a structured environment for developing fundamental life skills such as patience, control, responsibility and accountability for safe firearm handling, sportsmanship and critical thinking.  Their success is a testament to their talent and perseverance."

The Friends of Flint Scholarship Shoot is an annual event that raises funds for scholarships to benefit local 4H and FFA students. Proceeds from the competition will go towards helping deserving individuals pursue their educational goals.
