TEA Visits Navarro ISD to Observe High-Quality Instructional Materials Implementation
Geronimo, TX – October 24, 2024 – On October 23 the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) Texas Strategic Leadership program, which provides experience opportunities to superintendents and their leadership teams to enhance the overall student experience, brought a group of 60 visitors to Navarro ISD for a learning lab walk-through of district campuses. The purpose of the visit was to observe how the district is effectively implementing high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) in its classrooms and to learn about the processes used to develop the Navarro ISD Collaborative Vision Strategic Plan.
Visiting the campuses were TEA representatives, superintendents and school administrators from across the state, as well as Region 13 and 20 representatives. They had the opportunity to tour Navarro ISD schools and classrooms. During the walk-throughs, they witnessed firsthand how teachers are using HQIM to deliver engaging and effective lessons that meet the diverse needs of all students.
“We were honored to welcome the Texas Strategic Leadership participants to Navarro ISD,” said Chief Academic Officer Wendy McMullen. “This visit provided a valuable opportunity to showcase our commitment to providing our students with the best possible educational experiences through the use of high-quality instructional materials. It’s always rewarding to be able to connect and share with fellow administrators about our processes and experience of reinforcing new systems that foster student growth and achievement.”
Following the tour, Superintendent Epley, the Navarro ISD Academic Services leadership team, and Trustee Melissa Sartain participated in a panel debrief on topics such as strategic planning, continuous improvement processes for teacher support, and community transparency about curriculum. TEA representatives expressed praise for Navarro ISD’s implementation practices and strategies. Navarro ISD's participation in the RSSP (Resilient Schools Support Program) and implementation of Amplify and Carnegie curriculum has reinforced the district as a model for implementation of Professional Learning Community (PLC) systems and resources, reflection for instructional improvement, and implementation of HQIM.
Navarro ISD is proud to showcase its commitment to providing exceptional educational experiences for students. The district’s dedication to implementing effective instructional materials and fostering a collaborative learning environment aligns with the goals of the Texas Strategic Leadership program to design systems to achieve a rigorous, supportive student experience.
