Navarro ISD Earns Top Financial Accountability Rating
GERONIMO, TX – November 13, 2024 - Navarro ISD is proud to announce that it has once again received the highest possible rating in the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). The district earned an ‘A’ rating, or Superior Achievement, for the 2023-2024 school year.
Since the establishment of the current rating scale nine years ago, this marks the eighth time that Navarro ISD has achieved the top rating, a testament to the district’s commitment to sound fiscal management and fiscal responsibility to its stakeholders. Navarro ISD’s score of 96 places it among the top-performing districts in the state.
“We are incredibly proud of this achievement,” said Paul Neuhoff, Chief Financial Officer of Navarro ISD. “This recognition is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our finance team, superintendent, the board of trustees and the entire district. By maintaining strong financial practices, we can invest in our students by maximizing allocations for direct instructional resources and provide them with the high-quality education they deserve.”
The FIRST rating system evaluates school districts based on a variety of financial indicators, including administrative costs, financial reporting accuracy, and robust internal controls. A high rating signifies that a district is effectively managing its finances and utilizing resources wisely through strong financial planning and budgeting and efficient use of resources.
