Dear Navarro ISD Families and Staff,

We have been closely monitoring the winter weather that moved into our area early this morning. After meeting and contacting representatives from the National Weather Service, Bexar & Guadalupe County officials, and area district leaders Navarro ISD has determined that, as previously scheduled, Tuesday, January 16, we will have no classes for students but will continue to have school and district offices buildings open for the planned Faculty/Staff Inservice day. 

Staff should continue to monitor their NISD email for updates about the Inservice Day on Tuesday, January 16 or any other announcements that pertain to staff.

At this time we anticipate school operating as normal on Wednesday, January 17. Precipitation is not anticipated, and dangerous road conditions are not expected to impact our district. However, temperatures will be very cold in the early morning hours. Please be prepared and dress warmly.

The extreme cold will likely mean no outdoor activities for Tuesday and Wednesday. We will continue to monitor weather to adjust schedules and move all outdoor activities inside as needed to ensure student and staff safety.  

At this time we anticipate the following Athletic activities to still take place:

• Powerlifting:

  • Tuesday 1/16 practice from 3:45-5 pm 

  • Wednesday 1/17 practice at 6:30 am

• Tennis:

  • No practice Tuesday 1/16. 

  • Practice has been moved from 6am Wednesday to after school from 4-5:15pm (outside-weather permitting)

• Track: 

  • Practice is 6:30-7:15 Wednesday morning inside and 3:40-4:30 after school. (outside-weather permitting)

• Boys Basketball:

  • JH boys will practice 11:30-1 on Tues 1/16

  • HS boys have a game at Canyon Lake on Tues 1/16. They need to report to school at 2:30 pm and are expected home at 9:15pm.

  • Wed 1/17 - JH Boys have games at 5 & 6 pm. 8th Grade Home & 7th Grade Away

• Softball 

  • Tuesday practice 4:30-5:30 pm (weather permitting)

  • Wednesday practice 4-5:30 pm (weather permitting)

• Girls Basketball  

  • Tues 1/16 Varsity 11:30-:12:30 game day routine.  Games vs Canyon Lake at home - JV at 5 pm & Varsity at 6:30 pm.  No freshman game. No JH practice.   

  • Wednesday 1/17 JH Practice from 2:45-4:15 and High School weight room 7:45-8:25 am and practice in the HS Gym from 4:15-6 pm

Again, we will continue to monitor weather to adjust schedules and move all outdoor activities for all age groups inside as needed to ensure student and staff safety. Please watch for further sports related updates from your coaches in the SportU app and contact coaches or sponsors with any questions.

Students participating in the Guadalupe County Youth Show should monitor the Guadalupe County Youth Show Facebook page and watch for updates in the remind app from Navarro FFA sponsors. Please dress warmly, and know we are all rooting for you!

Parents, guardians and staff will be notified if there are any further changes to NISD’s plans. If needed, those notifications will be made via Navarro ISD and the Navarro ISD Facebook page. If changes need to be made to bus routes on Wednesday, parents will be notified by email through the TransAct parent portal account as soon as we are aware of any changes.
