Navarro ISD Board of Trustees Approves Unanimous 4% Raise for Faculty and Staff
The Navarro Independent School District Board of Trustees has unanimously approved a 4% salary increase for all faculty and staff members. This decision follows the comprehensive recommendations made by the Compensation Committee, which included two board members, teachers, administrators, maintenance, custodial, food service, and paraprofessionals. The committee convened five times over the past several months to thoroughly evaluate and discuss various compensation-related topics.
Compensation Committee Deliberations:
During their meetings, the Compensation Committee focused on the following key areas:
- School Finance:** Examining funding sources.
- Current Salary Scales:** Reviewing and comparing to other districts.
- Stipends and Other Compensation Costs:** Assessing additional financial benefits.
- Options for Salary Scale Changes:Considering potential adjustments and estimating associated costs.
Based on their detailed analysis and current budget projections, the committee made several recommendations, which the Board has now adopted. The approved compensation plan includes:
- Flat Increase of $1.00/hour PLUS 4% for the following staff:
- Classroom Paraprofessional Staff
- Food Service Staff
- Custodial Staff
- Maintenance Staff
- Bus Monitors
- 4% of Midpoint for Non-Professional Staff:
- Bus Drivers
- Office & Technology Staff
- 4% of Midpoint for Professional Staff:
- 4% of Midscale for Teachers
Additionally, the committee recommended a $20 increase in the District's contribution towards health insurance costs. However, with the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) recently announcing a 13% increase in health insurance plan rates for 2024-25, the employee-only cost is set to rise by $50. In response, the District will now increase its contribution by $35, ensuring the same percentage contribution towards health insurance costs is maintained.
